Oak Park to dedicate day to health and wellness

The Chamber of Commerce of Oak Park-River Forest is hosting a health and wellness fair, which is free and open to all members of the community.

Among the many participating vendors are Connect Hearing, Forest Park Orthodontics, Oak Park Behavioral Medicine, the Park District of Oak Park, and the Way Back Inn. Lecturers and their subjects include Dr. Paul Schattauer, who will speak on ‘A Health Care Revolution: Food as Medicine’; and a panel discussion on ‘Engaging with Aging’.

For those who want to get in even more exercise, a number of runs are slated for the day. Participants are entitled to a free massage at the wellness fair.

The fair will be held at the Ridgeland Common Reception Complex on Lake Street, from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 10. The Good Life races start with a one-mile race for children ages 5-12 at 8:45 am. A women's 5K starts at 9:10 am, and a 5K walk begins at 9:11 a.m. The men's 5K begins at 9:50 am, with a junior dash for youngsters five and under scheduled for 10:30 am. Awards will be handed out at 11:00 am.

Since there are over 50 professionals scheduled to attend the event, fair organizers might work with a flyer printing company to create handouts for attendees, listing the lectures, vendors, exhibits, a schedule of wellness activities, and a map of where the various exhibits and booths are located.
