A local garden in Oak Park will be the place to take a walk—if people dare.
Austin Gardens Park will be the setting of a spooky evening stroll to help celebrate Halloween. The park will be decorated for the event, and employees in costume will be lurking throughout the garden, ready to provide suitable chills for visitors of all ages. The evening will be family friendly.
Activities planned for the night include carving or decorating pumpkins, making a monster, and sitting beside the fire while listening to Halloween stories. A magic show will be the finishing touch to the evening. Everyone who attends is encouraged to wear a costume.
Austin Gardens Park is home to the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center, which won a Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the city's Park District. LEED is used by third parties to verify that green buildings meet established guidelines for environmental protection. The American Institute of Architects' Illinois chapter also honored the center by placing it on the “Illinois' 200 Great Places” list.
Although the event is free, people who wish to attend are required to register. The Spooky Stroll is scheduled for 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm on October 10. The park is on Forest Avenue. Outdoor events like this can be enhanced by using banner printing to create appropriate decorations.
