Anan Abu-Taleb, mayor of Oak Park, will be hosting a community forum this week.
Joining him will be Carolyn Newberry Schwartz, who is the director of the Collaboration for Early Childhood (CEC). According to Abu-Taleb, the collaboration serves the community by working with all its governing bodies, as well as parents and early-learning providers, to help Oak Park kids grow and learn.
He also enjoys the community forums, which provide an opportunity for village officials to have real, meaningful conversations with residents of Oak Park – something that cannot be done at meetings of the village board.
The collaboration, which is a nonprofit organization, comprises all six of the village's governmental agencies, and was founded in 2002-2003. Its aim is to support families by providing high-quality education and early care to village children. The CEC works with over 60 organizations and everyone in the village to make certain every child starts kindergarten healthy, safe, and eager to learn and succeed.
The upcoming community forum will be held tomorrow, December 13, at 7:00 pm. The event will take place at the Oak Park Public Library on Lake Street, in the Veterans' Room.
