The Park District of Oak Park will hold a race in October to raise money for its scholarship fund.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Races are three activities people can enter to support the Park District Scholarship Fund. The money is used to assist families by paying for pool passes, summer camps, and after-school programs. The course will have port-a-potties available for runners, and all participants will be treated to post-race refreshments. The three races held at the event are a 10K run, a 5K run/walk, and a youth mile for children 14 and younger.
People can help out during the fundraiser by volunteering to distribute race packets to participants. There will be two pre-event distribution sessions volunteers can join. The organizers are also looking for assistance during the day of the event with tasks such as checking gear for attendees, passing out water to runners, and serving food to participants. Volunteers may even help control traffic along the racecourse and set up barricades.
The races will take place on October 16 and will begin at 8:00 am. The cost to enter the 10K run and the 5K run/walk is $48. Children who want to partake in the youth mile must pay $33. No dogs or wheeled modes of transportation are allowed on the course. People who hold community fundraisers similar to this may use brochure printing to share their cause with eventgoers.
