WBEZ Chicago will be organizing a concert in Oak Park to benefit several hunger-fighting organizations.
The Food Aid Festival is a fundraising event where people can hear from many talented groups. Attendees can listen to bands like Second Hand News, FURY, and the School of Rock. The money raised at this year’s concert will benefit six charitable organizations, including A House In Austin, the Westchester Food Pantry, and Unity Fridges. The event will be held at Scoville Park, and additional programming will take place at the Oak Park Library.
WBEZ Chicago is a news station that was created in 1943 as an extension service for the Chicago Board of Education. The organization was also one of National Public Radio’s first charter member stations. Many events are organized by the group, such as the Summer Skate Party and the Millennium Park Summer Music Series. People may support WBEZ Chicago by volunteering with the organization or donating online.
The benefit concert will be held on Sunday, August 27 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The organizers will also hold a similar live show at the Exit Strategy Brewing Company in Forest Lake on Saturday, August 26. People can choose how much they wish to donate to the fest when ordering their tickets.
