The Oak Park Board of Trustees recently approved two liquor licenses, one for Live Café on Oak Park Avenue, which opened in February; the second for Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant on Forest Avenue. The vote was unanimous.
Live Café is not only a coffee shop, it also serves food and hosts public events. The café’s co-owner, Resheeda Washington, calls her place a “transformational experience café,” which uses tea and coffee to bring people into the café so they can explore the relationships among Oak Park’s diverse cultures. Washington decided to apply for the license in order to offer more diverse products to her customers.
Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is a chain of restaurants with locations in eight states. The restaurant’s concept is that of food and wine pairing—chefs create signature dishes especially made to go with the wines that the company itself makes. The company’s vision has four distinct parts: a casual dining restaurant; a private barrel-aging room for its wines; a full-service bar; and a tasting room and gift shop combination. Each location has its own distinct décor and layout, but all adhere to the basic vision of the company.
Cooper’s Hawk is slated to open by the end of June, 2017.
