New restaurant coming to Oak Park

Chef Christiane Pereira, co-owner with her husband Andre Otero of the now closed Taste of Brasil, is getting ready to open a new restaurant.

The new space will be located at the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and Lake Street, and takes over the premises formerly occupied by the Fresko juice bar. However, Pereira will not be serving strictly Brazilian food.

The chef says she has a plan, a name, a menu, and everything prepared, but she is not talking about the details yet, because she wants people to be curious about the venture. She did reveal she will be serving some of the dishes customers will recognize from Taste of Brasil. Pereira also said the business is hers, although her husband is a co-owner, as he was at their former restaurant.

The duo lost their former restaurant when the property where they were located was sold, and the new owner would not renew their lease. At the time, she says, their business was good, which has given her the confidence to try again.

She said that at Taste of Brasil, the meals she served were authentic Brazilian food, which she hopes to retain at the new location, but she will also develop some innovative dishes.

She is aiming for an opening during April 2018, and wants to open another authentic Brazilian restaurant in the future.
