Lux Cantorum will be holding a festive concert series in December that will end in Oak Park.
The Holiday Diversity Concert Series is a program created by Lux Cantorum where audience members can enjoy seasonal music while celebrating the choral contributions made by diverse composers. The series is intended to highlight underrepresented songs that will unite generations of listeners. The artistic director of the concert is Wilbert Watkins, and the assistant conductor will be Philips Kendall. Joan Hutchinson is the accompanist for the performance.
Lux Cantorum is a choral music ensemble that was founded in 1947. The name of the group means light singers in Latin. The organization holds weekly rehearsals each Monday at Portage Park and holds concerts during December and May. Another series arranged by Lux Cantorum is Celestial Theater, which will begin on May 5th. The choral group is a self-funded organization that accepts donations to help it continue functioning. The money given to the group will help pay for its rehearsal space.
The Holiday Diversity Concert will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets to the show will cost $20.
