MORA Asian Fusion, which already has restaurants in Plainfield and Bolingbrook, and hopes to open in Chicago soon, will open a new tapas location in Oak Park’s Arts District.
The restaurant will hold approximately 85 patrons, and will resemble other MORA locations, but with room for improvisation by the chef.
According to Jason Morales, a partner in the MORA restaurants, all locations have a basic menu that has proved popular with diners, but each has an executive chef of its own who is free to devise dishes that speak to his background and interests. For instance, the Plainfield location serves a lot of sushi because its chef is an expert in sushi, while the Bolingbrook chef is a French food expert, so he works in dishes that speak to classic French cooking, all while keeping true to the MORA model.
Morales said the restaurants are planning to incorporate Filipino recipes among their offerings. They will be mostly small plates that are priced between $6 and $18, he said, and are meant to be shared. Morales said he likes the tapas idea because patrons can have a taste of a dish, and if they dislike it, they do not have an entire entrée they can’t eat.
Morales says he hopes to open the new location in May. New businesses like this might consider distributing Promotional Products to their first customers, to say thanks and to build the brand.
