What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

New date set for wintery event

The Northbrook Winter Carnival, which was originally supposed to take place on January 10, will now take place later in February. The cancellation is due to the extremely cold temperatures the area is currently experiencing.

The carnival is hosted by the Northbrook Park District. Lots of family friendly activities are planned for the day, including horse-drawn trolley rides, bonfires with s'mores to eat, snow painting, snowshoeing and ice skating. Many of the activities will still be possible even if there is no snow on the ground.

New to this year’s festivities is the human sphere, which is a ball that people can climb inside and roll around in, similar to a hamster ball. Food trucks will also be on hand to sell a variety of tasty treats, meaning that there is bound to be something that will appeal to each member of the family.

This popular event regularly attracts up to 1,000 visitors, no doubt many from nearby communities such as Arlington Heights. Local printing companies may have been asked to provide flyers or posters to advertise throughout the area.

The Northbrook Winter Carnival will be held at Meadowhill Park on February 21 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. All activities are free of charge. To get more information about the day's activities, contact the Northbrook Park District at 847-291-2960.
