Lil Dynamo coming to town
Self-described ‘Lil Dynamo’ (because of her petite size and booming voice) Angela Ingersoll is about to hit the stage in a one-woman show she calls ‘The Twelve Dames of Christmas’.
In addition to singing songs in her own voice, she will be impersonating twelve well-known women singing celebrated songs.
Ingersoll is originally from Indianapolis and, despite her young age, has been honing her skills for a couple of decades. She started her career at home by offering family members renditions of holiday favorites. Since that time she has gone on to win four Ostrander Awards and has appeared on stages everywhere from New York to Chicago.
Her current performance lineup includes Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday’, Eartha Kitt singing ‘Santa Baby’, Judy Garland singing ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, and tunes by Brenda Lee, Julie Andrews, Edith Piaf and some artists she does not announce ahead of time so that each show will be a little different. The show will be performed tonight, December 10, at Metropolis Performing Arts Center, 111 W Campbell St, Arlington Heights, starting at 7:30 pm. Regular tickets will cost $40 and stage tables will be $45.
