Labor Day Weekend festival to draw the crowds
Arlington Heights families will have no trouble finding something to do over this Labor Day Weekend. A short trip to neighboring Schaumburg can see them enjoy a festival, parade, and fireworks.
The festival will feature a juried arts and craft show over the entire event. Over 250 exhibitors will be displaying their original works and offering them for sale. The Elks Club will be presenting bingo games in the afternoons. The carnival will have 18 rides and 10 gaming booths, and nfree pony rides will be available during the second afternoon.
Booths sponsored by Schaumburg Police Department Crime Prevention and Schaumburg Fire Safety will be handing out flyers and putting on safety demonstrations. There will be a Miss Septemberfest competition for girls 16 through 19 and a Mr. Septemberfest Ambassador one for young men in the same age group. A Taste of Schaumberg will be located in the Dining Tent the second two afternoons, with over 20 local restaurants participating.
On Monday, the Septemberfest Labor Day Parade will be a two-mile affair and will begin at the intersection of Wise Road and Summit Drive and go south to Stock Port Lane. Fireworks will be the event’s finale on Sunday evening.
The fun will be from Saturday morning at 10:00 am until Monday night at 9:00 pm at Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Ct.
