Downers Grove hosts Octoberfest
Downers Grove will be putting on its 3rd annual Oktoberfest in a couple of weeks.
The two-day festival, presented by the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58, will create a traditional German atmosphere with live music, food, and beverages. Proceeds from the event will go to benefiting children’s organizations in District 58.
Music for the event will be emceed by DJ Dan Music on Saturday and Angel Song Entertainment DJ all day Sunday. The Robert Hynes Band, Pure Vibe Dance, and Frank K & Company will be performing on the first day before the brat-eating contest. Later afternoon and evening performances will be Wayne Messimer, BRMC, JD12, and Evolution.
Kids’ Karaoke will start things off the last day. Pure Vibe Dance and Frank K & Company will be followed by a donut eating contest. North of Eight and Classic Blast will finish the evening’s entertainment.
A Kids’ Zone will have activities for everyone, including a dunk tank and face painting. Authentic Oktoberfest food like pretzels and bratwursts will be available for purchase, as will drinks.
Guests from here in Arlington Heights may want to buy some Oktoberfest promotional products such as T-shirts and promotional drinkware to remember the occasion.
The festival will be held on Main Street and Burlington avenues in Downers Grove on Saturday, September 17 from noon until 11:00 pm, and Sunday, September 18 from noon until 8:00 pm. The Kids’ Zone will be open from noon to 5:00 pm both days.
