Arlington Heights to support the arts during holiday season

Many Arlington Heights families will celebrate the holidays by attending Christmas-themed plays, musical events and recitals.

One local tradition will be Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’. Once again Ebenezer Scrooge will take the stage to complain about the season and all the trappings that come with it. Bob Cratchit will be his faithful clerk, three spirits will visit the old curmudgeon, and Tiny Tim will end the story with his famous line. Adult general admission is $30 and student tickets are $15.

A Christmas Carol will be presented on Thursdays, Fridays, two performances on Saturdays, and on Sunday and Monday until Christmas Eve.

For something a bit zanier, the Second City’s Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue will recount the mayhem, mystery and magic of the holiday season in a flurry of new and classic songs and sketches. General admission will be $30, stage tables run $35, and New Year’s Eve tickets will be $50 and $60.

The show will have ten performances starting Saturday, December 22 at 9:30 pm with the last two on Monday, December 31 at 7:00 and 10:00 pm.

The two events will be at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W Campbell Street. Tickets to events like these are often used as corporate gifts by local companies.
