Arlington Heights to enjoy Ides of March in May
The rock band Ides of March will be presenting an evening of nostalgia in a couple of weeks. The band’s founder and lead singer Jim Peterik will be featured.
Peterik has been with the Chicago-based band for over 50 years. Along with the band’s classic hits, many of the songs for the evening will be those he has written and co-written for other artists such as the Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, the Beach Boys, Lynyrd Skynyd, and the country artist Blackhawk.
The song ‘Vehicle’, which Peternik wrote back in 1970, is still the Warner Brothers’ fastest rising song ever. The evening’s program will also include his catalog of top 40 hits such as ‘Eye of the Tiger’ (a hit for Peterik’s other band Survivor) and ‘Hold on Loosely’.
The Ides of March has released 20 singles and 13 albums over the group’s long career. Peterik released three singles of his own in addition to his two albums. The band may perform some cover songs from Survivor and his newest group Pride of Lions as well.
Those interested will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, May 14. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm and run until 8:30 pm at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 West Campbell Street, Arlington Heights.
