Arlington Heights runs Uncle Sam 5K
The Uncle Sam 5K and Little Patriot’s Kids Dash will be held a few days after Independence Day this year. Registration for the 5K will be $35 until July 6, $40 on race day, and $10 for the Kids Dash.
Arlington Heights Registrants will receive ‘Merica Trucker hats, Bounce Back $10 gift cards, Tap House Grill Breakfast Sandwiches, complimentary beverages, and Dri-Fit shirts sporting the event graphic design.
Younger runners in the Kids Dash will get race bibs and Uncle Sam hats. The Dash, open to children from ages 3 to 12, will be a half-mile run along the 5K course.
The race will be officially timed. A disposable B-tag chip will be positioned on the back of bib numbers. Results will be posted at the site as soon as they are available. They can also be found on the results page online.
Top three female and male runners in each of 14 age groups, along with the top three overall female and male finishers, will receive awards.
Participants that will be walking including those with strollers will need to start behind the runners. Proceeds from the race will go to the Palatine Park Foundation, a nonprofit that serves the community.
The Kids Dash will start at 8:40 am and the 5K will begin at 9:00 am at the Tap House Grill on Sunday, July 7, 56 Wilson Street, Palatine. The post-party will be at the grill.
