What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

Arlington Heights MPAC hosts Christmas specials

Metropolitan Performing Arts Center, 111 West Campbell Street, will be presenting a plethora of performances during December.

Ebenezer Scrooge will get his comeuppance from three holiday spirits as he morphs from his mean miserly ways to become a well-loved London philanthropist. This version of the Charles Dickens classic will be suited for kids from grades 1 to 12. Performances will be Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from December 5th through the 21st starting at 7:00 pm.

The Rotary Santa Run will be Saturday December 7th and will begin in the Metropolis Lobby. The untimed Reindeer Run for kids 10 years old and younger will begin at 9:30 am. Both the 5k and the untimed 1-mile walk will begin at 10:00 am.

Participants are invited to don their Santa suits, hats and beards and head out for a morning of running or strolling through Arlington Heights. Little ones will receive antlers for their efforts. Parents like to take pictures of their little “Reindeer Runners” and take the photos to local stationery printers to be made into holiday note cards or Christmas cards.

On the 9th at 7:30 pm, The Lakeside Singers will present “It’s The Best time of the Year.” The program will be a celebration of both contemporary and classical holiday choral music.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra will take the stage Tuesday the 17th. The curtain will go up at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
