What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

Arlington Heights invited to cheer Santa

The Arlingtones Barbershop Chorus, a cappella men’s chorus, will be presenting its Christmas season performance of ‘Santa’s Got the Blues’ in a few days.

The chorus will be asking the community to help them cheer up the old elf in an afternoon of antics and song, ranging from the traditional to the novelty.

Although traditional barbershop harmonies will be dominating the program, there will also be more contemporary barbershop music and songs such as those from Broadway. Flyers about this event say the afternoon will include holiday gifts and a raffle, and ‘Elvis’ is rumored to be in the building singing his ‘It’ll Be a Blue Christmas’.

The program will begin with the traditional Christmas music fare including ‘We Need a Little Christmas’ and ‘Let it Snow’. Other seasonal favorites will follow, such as ‘It’s Beginning to Look like Christmas’, ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town’, and ‘White Christmas’.

More somber pieces such as ‘Please Come Home for Christmas’ and ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ will tone things down a little, but things will return to seasonal upbeat with ‘12 Days of Christmas’, ‘Fa La La’ and ‘Diddly Squat’, followed by a range of traditional Christmas songs.

Santa’s Got the Blues will be taking place at 3:00 pm tomorrow, December 10, at Forest View Education Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights.
