What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

Arlington Heights hits the books

The bound works of many printing companies will be on sale at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library during its Book Sale event this month.

Held four times a year, the sale offers residents a chance to buy any of thousands of books, music, movies, and magazines at a discounted rate. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, which is a nonprofit organization helping to raise funds to provide programs, materials, artwork, and equipment for the library.

There will also be a silent auction at the event, which is sure to have something for everyone. Some of the items at the auction include books on art and architecture (such as the Picasso collection), music, Chicago history, collectibles, children’s classics, and sports.

The next book sale takes place at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library on October 23rd, but this date is for members only. Membership at the library is open to all individuals, whether residents or nonresidents. Interested parties may complete an application online.

Non-members can attend October 24 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, and October 25 from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The silent auction is held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The library points out that electronic devices such as scanners, cellphones, and laptops are not allowed, and it will also not accept any bills larger than $20.
