Arlington Heights goes Irish
Everyone in Arlington Heights will be Irish for a day as they put on the green and head out for the 8th Annual ‘Palatine Paints the Town Green’ celebration.
Many activities are being planned for downtown Palatine, and a tented Irish market will be running for four hours.
A scavenger hunt will take teams of two to six members on a romp through the downtown area. Hidden treasures will be found as the participating groups answer trivia questions, take photos and record their experiences. Registration will be $20. Participants will get details on their mobile apps at the beginning of the race, and winners will receive a prize of cash and gifts donated by local merchants.
Many of the 40+ units will be getting their banner printing done soon as they prepare to march in this year’s parade. Some of them will be the American Legion Color Guard and Post 690, the local Jaycees, and the police department. The parade will take about an hour as many units will be stopping at designated locations for two-minute performances.
The event will open at 10:00 am, the parade will begin at 11:00 am, and things will be winding down by 2:00 pm.
The Scavenger Hunt will begin at 180 M. Smith Street at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 17. Teams can check in between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. They can turn in their completed hunt any time before midnight on March 20.
