Arlington Heights goes biking in May - twice
Many local families will be attending the free Bike Arlington Community Bike Ride coming up soon.
The event will be a 14-mile bike tour through Arlington Heights. A four-mile starter loop will also be available, and participants will get a chance to enjoy the outdoors at the Arlington Heights Bicycle Club’s Arlington 500.
Members of the local Police Department Bike Patrol, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission will direct the bikers along the route in the Bike Arlington Community Bike Ride. The starting and finishing area will have bicycle mechanical assistance and a food truck.
The Arlington Heights Bicycle Club will be holding its annual Arlington 500. This will have four options – 28, 42, 54, and 69-mile routes. Riders will receive a map, cue sheet, bike support, rest stops, and roving support vehicles. A small gift awaits those who pre-register.
The date for the Bike Arlington Community Bike Ride will be this Saturday, May 13. The ride will start at the intersection of E Eastman Street and N Arlington Heights Road at North School Park at 9:15 am. On-site registration will begin at 8:00 am.
Bikers may also want to mark their calendars for The AHBC Arlington 500 that will be on May 21, starting at the west parking lot of Barrington High School, 616 W. Main Street, Barrington at 6:30 am.
