What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

Arlington Heights celebrates art with promenade and march

Art lovers will want to mark their calendars for a couple of art events coming to Arlington-Heights this month.

The Promenade of Art will start things off. This will be a downtown event in which over 110 local, regional and national artists and crafters will be displaying and selling their original works. Some genres will include ceramics, sculpture, photography, paintings and jewelry. Live art demonstrations from master artists will be held throughout the day. There will also be Art Bingo, a graffiti wall and a photo booth. Live entertainment and a food fair will accompany the festival.

The Green Ribbon Project for this festival will be the American Cancer Society. Each artist will place a green ribbon on one of his/her pieces and if the piece sells, ten percent of the purchase price will go to the society.

The March for Art will be a peaceful march through town. Paupers’ papier-mache “human art float” will lead the procession. Colorful signs will depict famous works of art and costumed models will complete the parade.

The Promenade of Art Arlington Heights will be June 10th and 11th from 10:00 am until 5pm on Campbell and Vail streets in Downtown Arlington Heights.

The March for Art will be June 14th starting at Paupers Art Guild, 831 N Wilke Road. Event opens at 3:00 pm with parade stepping off at 4:00.
