Annual festival celebrates summer in Arlington Heights
The 40th annual Frontier Days festival is taking place during the first five days of July in Arlington Heights.
There are a number of events and activities planned for the festival. This includes teen and adult volleyball tournaments, carnival rides and games, rib- and pie-eating contests, and a baseball/softball skills clinic for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Some of the covered skills will be base running and hitting.
Music will be provided by groups such as 7th Heaven, Tainted Jake, Blackhawk, and the Outlaws. There will be entertainment for the Irish McNulty Dancers, Buttons the Clown, and the Runaway Circus.
Independence Day will feature two parades; the main one and a decorated bike parade for children.
Visitors can take part in the dog Frisbee catch and fetch, watch a martial arts demonstration, play in a Baggo tournament, or take in a bingo game. There will also be an arts and crafts market, a scholarship presentation, a soccer tournament, and a K-9 demonstration. For the kids, there will be activities like pony rides, pottery, and face painting.
Arlington Heights banner printing companies may be asked to provide banners to help decorate the downtown area.
Frontier Days will be held at Recreation Park from July 1st to 5th. To get the latest information for the festival's planned activities, call 847-577-8572.
