Professional artists and teams of artists are invited by the city of Orlando to submit conceptual proposals of a preliminary nature for the design, fabrication, and installation of a permanent monumental sculpture in the Lake Nona community in a new community park. The Lake Nona community spans 14.2 acres, is located along Luminary Boulevard, and is a destination for recreation.
The park’s goal is to be a vibrant gathering place that promotes connections among the community, wellness, and recreation. Among the amenities on offer will be basketball and pickleball courts, playgrounds, a splash pad, shaded seating areas, walking trails, outdoor fitness pods, picnic pavilions, shaded seating areas, and a pavilion for performances and other community events.
A large scale, original, contemporary artwork that is a permanent monumental three-dimensional sculpture is being sought by the city to become a visual landmark for the park and to complement the landscape and modern architecture of the Lake Nona community. The artwork should be modern, bold, and unmistakably original, giving the park a distinct visual identity and creating an engaging, memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
Local Print shops can be used to create Flyers and mailers to inform artists of such projects and encourage submissions.
The deadline to submit an entry is Sunday October 18. Installation will be coordinated with construction of the park and is anticipated for the summer or fall 2027.
