Mixed use development to come to Orlando

Ground has been broken on phase one of the RoseArts District Planned Development project in Orlando.

This is on 128 acres of what was once the Lake Orlando Golf Course and Country Club. The federal government designated the Rosemont neighborhood as an Opportunity Zone in 2017, which enables it to offer tax incentives at the federal level to investors, thus increasing economic development in defunct, underutilized, or low-income neighborhoods.

There will be three phases of the project, and which in turn will be divided into nine sub-phases. Included in the project will be just over 5,600 multi-family dwelling units; commercial development space spanning 350,000 square feet complete with office space and retail establishments; green space and parks covering up to 65 acres; and many options for mobility and transportation, including access to transit, scooter stations, electric charging ports, and walking and biking trails.

The opening phase will have about 1,600 residential units, around 10% of which will be affordable, along with 150,000 square feet of space for uses other than residential. Such sites often rely on banner printing to inform residents of ongoing projects and their benefits for a city.

The Orlando City Council approved phase one of the Specific Parcel Master Plan in October 2022. The developer of the project will determine the timeline for construction of this phase.
