Orlando to open center for engagement and emergencies

The Southeast Community and Government Center will be coming to the city of Orlando. The city will build this center as a focal point in the community to become a drop-in for residents looking for a wide range of information and services related to their engagement and well-being.

The center will span 15,000 sq ft and will serve as a multi-function and versatile facility deigned to meet community needs. One of its main features will be meeting rooms open to the public; this will help with demand for space for gatherings such as resident discussions and multi-generational classrooms.

It will also serve as a regional police substation to help the 17 police districts in the southeast of Orlando to work together. The substation will also be a center for local field operations during emergency situations such as hurricanes or other man-made or natural disasters.

During emergencies, the center will serve as a distribution hub, providing community support and activities to residents in the southeast area. This includes, but will not be limited to, the distribution of water, food, and vaccines in emergencies when they are needed most.

News about such needed facilities is often spread throughout a community with flyer printing.

The center will be on Dowden Road, just west of Narcoossee Road, and will open by the end of this year.
