Wilmington has charity burger battle

Delaware’s competitive chefs will go head-to-head for glory and trophies in the 9th Delaware Burger Battle, a charity food festival coming to Wilmington in late August.

Tickets allow guests to stroll from booth to booth trying burger samples from all participating restaurants. Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are included. Each ticket will come with three votes for the People’s Choice winner. A panel of judges will select the Critics’ Choice winner and the Best Alternative Burger.

Over the last eight years, the battle has served over 24,000 burgers, welcomed 55 competitors, and – between it and the Grilled Cheese Battle – donated over $83,000 to charity. This year, the Battle will donate all its net proceeds to Delaware Prostart (National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation) and the Food Bank of Delaware.

Chefs and restaurants that donate their time and money to this kind of event often have pictures taken during the festivities. These photos then go to Print shops to become part of their advertising brochure printing.

Although the early bird $45 tickets are sold out, there are still $54 adult general admission ones available. Designated driver and teen wristbands tickets are $32, and children ages 5 through 12 will need the $13 tickets.

The 2022 Delaware Burger Battle will take place Saturday, August 27 in Rockford Park at Rockford Tower, 2000 Lookout Drive, from noon to 3:30 pm.
