October sees abundance of Wilmington races
No fewer than six 5k races have been scheduled for Wilmington in October.
The 15th Pearls of Hope 5k kicks things off next Sunday, October 1. Preregistration is $30 until Thursday, September 28, and $35 after. Swag will include T-shirts featuring this year’s event graphic design and refreshments afterward. This race benefits New Castle community projects like the Salvation Army, YMCA, AHA, ADA and Urban Promise.
Awards will go to top male and female finishers and to the top three female and male finishers in various age categories. This run will begin and end at Rockford Park, 19th and Tower Drive.
Other runs include Running for Rysheema 5k on October 7, 40th DE Distance Classic 15k and 5k on October 8, and the 8th CCEP Running of the Rams at Hagley 5k on October 14. The Rugby Delaware 5k and the 5th Brace for the Race will both be on Saturday, October 21.
New this year will be the Inaugural Pumpkin Run 5k. Registration is $25 until next Saturday, September 30, $30 from then until October 26, and $35 thereafter. The untimed 1-mile walk will be $25 until September 30 and $30 thereafter.
The 2023 Pumpkin Run will be Sunday, October 29 at Rockford Park. The event will open at 8:30 am with registration, and Kiddie K will begin at 9:20 am, with the 5k starting at 9:30 am. Swag will be long-sleeved T-shirts, music, and refreshments after the race. Proceeds will go to the Delaware Foundation.
