Bicyclists head for River Town Ride

Three towns – Wilmington, New Castle, and Delaware City - will be participating in the 10th annual River Towns Ride and Festival that will be held early in October.

Starting points will be at DuPont Environmental Education Center at the Wilmington Riverfront, Downtown Historic Delaware City, and Downtown Historic New Castle.

Riders completing the 20-mile circuit between New Castle and Delaware City will receive bronze medals. Participants vying for silver medals will have two options. One is to complete the course between New Castle and Delaware City twice (40 miles) or two, ride the entire circuit visiting all three towns and returning to the original starting point (32 miles). These rides may begin in any of the three towns.

Gold medals will be handed out to riders travelling to all three Riverfront towns twice then returning to their original starting points (64 miles). Again, riders may start their rides at any one of the three starting points.

Registration is $30 and no medals will be awarded after 3:00 pm.

Riders that complete events such as this often have pictures taken of themselves wearing their medals. Many take the photos to Stationery printers to be included in family newsletters or yearly Calendars.

A post-ride festival will take place beginning 1:00 pm at Battery Park in Delaware City. This free family festival will have kids’ activities, games, live music, food, and vendors.

River Towns Ride will take place Saturday, October 1st with rides beginning at 9:00 am.
