Arts Center East in Vernon is hosting multiple art-based classes throughout the fall.
Starting September 3 until October 8 from 1pm to 3:30pm, Jane Penfield will teach Pastel Painting on Tuesdays. Registration is $157.50 for ACE members and $175 for non-members.
The workshop will cultivate confidence in pastel painting and practice solid painting skills throughout the process. It will cover understanding values, close-knit harmony with color, strong composition, and light versus shadow. Students will also learn about underpainting methods. All experience levels are encouraged to attend and bring subject matter references.
Two separate calligraphy classes will be offered from September 4 until October 14 on Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm. The title of the class is Calligraphy, The Art of Beautiful Writing. Kathy Lepak will teach both classes.
Registration is $137.50 for members and $150 for non-members. Students can get a $25 discount if they bring their own materials including Pens, inks, nibs, and paper. The class will use a pen with a broad edge and will begin with foundational hand style lettering. Interested parties must register no later than one week before class.

Brochure printing can be used to let the public know about what classes or events are being offered at a venue. Brochures are portable so patrons can take them home and think about what they want to participate in.
