There are events for children and adults in Vernon during the month of December. One is for those who like to stay at home while the other is for the more active type.
Matthew Leonard, Vernon resident and puppeteer at the Lionheart Puppet Company, will tell the story of the Little Red Hen at the Rockville Public Library. Families can watch the performance online on the puppeteer company's Facebook page.
The show is inspired by the classic tale about being a good helper with a holiday theme. Ms. Hen needs the help of her friends so she can bring her notorious cookies to the bake sale.
Children and parents are encouraged to dress in pajamas and enjoy a warm drink while watching the performance. The video of the performance will be on the Facebook page for two days.
The 5K Scrooge Scramble is in its 30th year. Starting at the Cornerstone Foundation Shelter at 15 Prospect Street, it consists of six laps and is an approved USA Track and Field route. Participants can dress in costumes, bring their dogs, and run or walk the course. Suggested donations include clothing, Books, canned food, games, and gift cards.
The Little Red Hen will debut on December 4 at 6:30 pm, while the Scrooge Scramble is on December 25 starting at 10:30 am. Flyer printing allows organizations to advertise local events like these in the community.
