Running and bowling for charity in Vernon

There are two notable events happening in Vernon this Sunday, April 7, with one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

First up, the Strong Farm will have its annual Chicken Run, Walk, and Kids' Run for the 6th year. Participants can choose from a 5K run, a 1.5-mile walk, or a quarter-mile run for children. Participants can register on the day starting at 7:30 am.

Clucky T. Rooster will be at the farm on West Street, along with several animals and South Windsor sponsor ProHealth Chiropractics. The money raised will go toward the Strong Family Farm community nonprofit.

Afterwards, Spare Time Lines on Talcottville Road will host the Rockin' Bowl-A-Thon starting at 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. The honorary MARC chairs for the event will be Keybank Operations Leader Kimberly Mauro and day program participant Neil O'Connor. Participants must have at least $50 in pledges. There will be a laser light show, contests, prizes for high scores, music, soda, and pizza, in addition to two hours of bowling.

MARC, Inc. started in 1952 and has headquarters on in Manchester on Sheldon Road. The organization helps those with developmental and intellectual disabilities gain independence. It advocates for inclusion, personal choice, and allowing people with disabilities to live well.
