Rockville High School (RHS) and the Vernon Historical Society are working together to mark the school's 150th anniversary.
Next year, the school, located at 70 Loveland Hill Road, will be a century and a half old. The Historical Society and officials from the school will promote activities that honor the essential traditions and history that recognize RHS in the area across this time.
There are plans for multiple displays this school year. The historical society has a collection of photographs and artifacts that will be put on exhibit. It is looking for photographs and memorabilia from the 1960s so current students can learn about the school's past.
Other than photographs, designers of the exhibit are hoping for people to bring them athletic uniforms, school themed clothes, spirit items, rings, projects from Art, Industrial Arts, or Home Economics, club items, prom objects, or memorabilia that present how high school was like for alumni to students of today.
Individuals with artifacts from Rockville High School can loan them to the historical society or the society can photograph and return them. The displays in the showcases at the school will be relocated to the historical society for a unique RHS exhibit while the school hosts the anniversary program in June. Schools often use banner printing to make the school more festive during a special event like an anniversary.
