Manchester race registration begins next month

Vernon's metropolitan neighbor Manchester will start Thanksgiving Day run registration online on September 1, according to the Manchester Road Race Committee. Thanksgiving Day is November 22 this year.

The start and finish line will be located in front of St. James Church on Main Street. This is the 82nd year of the run, and last year, 12,757 people registered and Colorado Springs and silver medalist Olympian Paul Chelimo came in first. In the women's division, Ethiopian native Buze Diriba also set a new speed record.

According to the president of the committee, Dr. Tris Carta, many famous distance runners come to the race. She believes the race will go well and hopes that people will sign up as soon as possible in order to participate. The registration fee takes care of the event costs. The rest will go to charity.

Last year, the race gave $75,000 to over a dozen charities like the Association for Muscular Dystrophy. The race has had a focus on research for Muscular Dystrophy for over 60 years.
Committees sometimes use Promotional Products like shirts and pencils that display the name of the race and some of the charities involved as a souvenirs.

Registration before November 4 is $27. After that, it is $32. The race is 4.748 miles long and starts at 10:00 am.
