The Rockville Public Library in Vernon is hosting several events in July that include history, art, and music.
The library currently features an exhibit called I Remember That. It features items that were commonly found in homes in the past. Each item was donated to the Vernon Historical Society Museum by members of the community who want preserve the history of the local area.
The program for Messy Outside Art is on July 9 at 6:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring a towel and wear clothes they can get messy, as they will be painting with their hands and feet, and pop balloons filled with paint. The next day, at 4:00 pm, the library will host Tape Canvas Art.
On July 11 is the traveling hands-on exhibit Musical Petting Zoo, where participants can try different instruments. The Summer Concert Series starts on July 13 with 9th Wave performing at 2:00 pm. Nekita Waller will finish the series at 6:00 pm on July 25.
Interested patrons can learn more and register for events on the library's website or call the library directly. To obtain a library card for the Rockville branch at 52 Union Street, Vernon residents must bring identification with a picture and evidence of an address in Vernon, such as mail that has been sent through the post office.
Library cards are constantly obtained and lost, so a Print shop must make several of them for libraries.
