The Vernon Garden Club has two events coming up in May.
This Saturday, May 11, the club will have its yearly plant sale starting at 8:00 am and going until 11:30 am It will be in the parking lot of Vernon Center Middle School on Hartford Turnpike. The rain date is May 18, the following Saturday.
On sale will be herbs, bulbs, perennials that thrive in sun and shade, and a white gardener’s table in the shape of an elephant. Members will also bring unusual plants from their personal gardens to sell.
All the money earned will go toward Rockville High School's scholarship from the club, funding the Junior Gardener's Program, and tending two community gardens in Rockville and Vernon.
On May 20, the club will present the Eastern Coyotes in Connecticut program. It will start at 7:00 pm at 695 Hartford Turnpike.
Paul Colburn will give a lecture on eastern coyotes in the state including their history, habitat, behavior, reproduction, and diet. He will also talk about living in the same world as coyotes in practical ways, and show the audience various coyote artifacts. Certified as a Master Wildlife Conservationist, Colburn graduated from the Master Wildlife Conservationist Program in 2015.
The Vernon Garden Club can use brochure printing to let the public know about upcoming events. The brochure could have color photos of gardens and plants.
