Following approval from the board of directors of Manchester by a unanimous vote, the city will give $98,000 to the Manchester Land Conservation Trust.
These funds were leftover from a $3m bond issue for open land use that resident voters approved more than a decade ago. The trust aims to buy the Botti Farm near Vernon, comprising 63 acres of land that will cost $915,000.
Having already acquired almost $600,000 from the state, and the trust plans to get a loan from the Conservation Fund in Washington D.C. It will have low interest and will need to be paid off in three years.
In 1914, Louis Botti began farming fruits and vegetables and raising livestock on the land, and also built a cider mill. His grandson, Steven Botti, owns the property today. Malcolm Barlow, the president of the land trust, states that the trust wants to keep the property as a farm open to the public, since it has the resources to be prosperous. The barn situated where the cider mill once stood will stay on the farm after the purchase.
Locations like farms are common in photos used for Postcards. A postcard printing company could work with a photographer to get images of the farm and make Postcards for tourists or everyday correspondence. Working with other businesses can also help expand clientele.Get a Free Quote for Postcards
