August has outdoor concert pair in store

The Mayor Daniel Champagne Concert Series, put on by the Department of Parks and Recreation of Vernon, is continuing with two more midweek performances this month.

This Thursday, August 10, cover band Nightshift will perform at 7:00 pm on Frank McCoy Field in Henry Park. According to the band's promoter and keyboardist Kenny Hicks, each member is knowledgeable in a diverse amount of music, despite the band itself having only been formed a few years ago.

They will play songs from the ‘60s to the ‘80s. Hicks added that the band will play songs many other cover bands skip over, such as Blues Image’s ‘Ride Captain, Ride’. Each member of the band is also from the area and is eager to grow their local audience.

A week later, on August 17, Superior Energy will host the Beatles Mystery Tour tribute band, while AFC Urgent Care will host juggler and kids' entertainer Bryson Lang. Those who attend should bring something to sit on such as a blanket or chair. If it rains, the events will take place at the 26 Park Place senior citizen center. Interested parties can call the Parks and Recreation department for updated information.
