Annual event helps keep kids warm this winter

The 2nd annual Warming Hands Warming Hearts event is taking place next month.

The event is presented by the East of the River Chamber of Commerce Association (ERCCA), a coalition of six chambers of commerce that includes those in Tolland County, River Valley, and Greater Manchester.

Guests from Vernon and other nearby areas are asked to bring hats, socks, mittens, scarves and coats for children or to donate $10 each. The items that are collected will then be distributed in the community to organizations like the Network Against Domestic Abuse, Community Health Resources and S.W. Youth and Family Services. Last year’s event collected over 2,500 items for the children.

In addition, appetizers will be served by the hosting restaurant, with last year’s fare including pizza. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by January 4 to ensure that they are not disappointed.

There will likely be plenty of time for guests to briefly discuss their businesses and to exchange their custom Business Cards. Many will also check with their printing company to see if they need to order more to ensure that the cards contain their current contact information.
