An upcoming musical event in Shelton will feature a performer who is one-of-a-kind.
Charlie Widmer will visit the White Hills Distillery in Shelton for an afternoon of storytelling and a mix of original songs and covers. Those attending the concert will be spending time in the company of the official Connecticut State Troubadour.
The Connecticut Office of the Arts, partnering with the Connecticut Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, appointed Widmer as the state’s official troubadour. His term began January 1, 2026, and will run through December 31, 2028.
The position of troubadour is honorary and was established in 1991. The purpose is for the person to serve as an ambassador of song and music while also promoting cultural legacy throughout Connecticut. For the troubadour to be effective, they must understand the stories, arts, and culture of the state, and help inspire the next generation of songwriters and vocalists. Widmer visits schools, holds songwriting workshops and masterclasses, performs throughout the state, and collaborates with other artists.
Widmer was named to the post because he is known throughout the region for his artistry, both as a soloist and as a member of On The Trail, a bluegrass and acoustic quartet. He has appeared in venues such as Radio City Music Hall, with stars like Jared Leto and Sarah Brightman.
Widmer will be at the White Hills Distillery on November 14. Events like this can benefit if organizers use flyer printing to create economical handouts to promote them locally.
