Shelton organizations provide family entertainment

There are two family-friendly events occurring in Shelton in the first week of December.

There will be a coat drive presented by the Young Professional Advisory Committee of the Valley United Way. Taking place from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on December 4 at Caloroso Eatery and Bar in the Cove event area, attendees are encouraged to bring gently used winter items to the restaurant and help local children stay warm this season. Caloroso is located on Center Street.

Tickets will be available at the door for $15. The menu includes brick-oven style pizza, salad, soda, and other soft drinks. There will also be a cash bar. The money raised will go towards purchasing coats for needy children.

Following the event, the donations guests bring will be sent to Ansonia's John C. Mead and Prendergast to give to local students. The goal is to have 25 coats by the end of the event. The articles of clothing needed the most are winter coats and jackets, scarves, hats, and gloves.

Valley Shakespeare Festival's Tom Simonetti is performing A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens at the Plumb Memorial Library on Wooster Street. Simonetti also adapted the story for performing. There will be a performance on December 6 at 7:00 pm and December 7 at 1:00 pm. There is no fee for this event.

Flyer printing helps community organizations advertise such events.
