Trio of March concerts for Norwalk symphony
The Norwalk Youth Symphony will have three performances in March.
Its Winter Concert will be March 1 at 3:00 pm at City Hall’s Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue, and will feature this season’s NYS Concerto Competition winner.
The afternoon’s prelude will be the March from Suite No. 1 by Holst/Monday, Dvorak/Palmer Slavonic Dance and Balmages’s Creatures. The Concert Orchestra will play movement 4 of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, and a Berlioz Hungarian March.
The Philharmonia Winds will play pieces by Huckeby, Neeck and Granger/ Seeney and the Philharmonia Strings will perform the Andante from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.6, Symphony in D by Pleyel/McCashin and Atwell’s Drifen.
Clarinet soloist, Woongki Hong will perform movement 1 of Weber’s Clarinet Concerto with the Principal Orchestra. The orchestra will then play movement 1 of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on March 22, in Norwalk Concert Hall, some members of Norwalk Youth Symphony’s Principal Orchestra will share the stage with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in a Side by Side Concert.
Starting at 7:00 pm, at the Concert Hall, on March 28, members of the Concert Orchestra will take part in the Samba Crossover Concert – a fundraiser for the INTEMPO organization.
Music organizations like NYS often have pictures taken at these events. The pictures go to local print shops to be used in program brochure printing and for advertising purposes.
