What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Talk on famous writer to go ahead online

Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk will host a virtual talk about the life and times of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda by author Rickard ‘Deeg” Webb.

Webb has written a book Boats Against the Current that relates the couple’s five-month honeymoon spent in Westport Connecticut during the summer of 1920. The Westport native has also carried out extensive research about the Fitzgeralds’ wealthy multimillionaire neighbor F.E. Lewis whose estate is proposed as the real setting for The Great Gatsby.

Boats Against the Current contains photos of the Lewis family and related the real events that were the back bone of the famous novel. Many of these pictures will be part of the virtual event.

Webb is a documentary filmmaker and an award-winning educator, as well as co-producer and co-creator pf the documentary ‘Gatsby in Connecticut: The Untold Story’. This documentary is a companion piece to Boats Against the Current.

The virtual talk will consist of the author reading selected passages from his book and showing some illustrations and real photos. He then will take questions from the viewers.

Registration will be free and required but donations are always welcome. Patrons sometimes support the museum by buying promotional products from the museum’s gift shop.

Boats Against the Current with guest author Richard Webb will take place August 6 beginning at 5:30 pm.
