Norwalk welcomes summer with music
Many music organizations are completing their seasons over the next few weeks, and summer concert series are just beginning.
The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra will be finishing its season with Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. Jonathan Yates, Music Director, will be conducting the semi-staged intimate production. The production will be brought to life by Christopher Mirto, the stage director.
For an evening of Gilbert and Sullivan and a little Bernstein, Broadway enthusiasts will want to attend the upcoming Norwalk Community Chorale 57th Annual Spring Concert. The four-part mixed chorus is composed of local talent and directed by Brian Muller.
Local schools will also be giving their spring concerts. The Pierrepoint School Chorale Concert will begin at 7:00 pm June 3, and Suzuki of Westport Concert will be June 10 at 8:00 pm. Both will be at the Norwalk Concert Hall.
First County Bank and The City of Norwalk Recreation and Parks are beginning their annual Summer Concert Series at Calf Pasture Beach starting June 27 at 7:30 pm. Motown, CCR, Elton John, and Chicago and Beatles tribute bands are on the docket. Fans will be bringing lawn chairs and donning their favorite bands’ promotional products, such as visors and T-shirts.
The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra will end its season this Saturday, May 19 at the Norwalk Concert Hall 125 East Avenue, with the curtain going up at 8:00 pm.
