Norwalk to remember veterans
Norwalk is doing its part this year to honor the armed forces, with multiple activities to be held on two days later this month.
The Norwalk Veterans Memorial Committee will be holding its Shea-Magrath Memorial Ceremony a few days early. The American Festival band will be performing in concert for a half an hour before the ceremony.
Later in the evening there will be a dedication of the library. It will be in tandem with the dedication of a display that honors the Falcone family. Again, the American Festival Band will be providing the music. The Community Room will be offering refreshments after the dedication.
The Memorial Day Parade will step off at Vernon Park and end on East Avenue at the Town Green. The Norwalk Fire Department Pipe Band, the two local high school bands, and four middle school bands will be marching along the route with floats, civic organizations, community groups, Scout troops, and youth athletic teams.
Everyone will want to mark their calendars for Sunday, May 22. The memorial ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm at Calf Pasture Beach. The dedication of the Falcone family display and the dedication of the library will begin on the same day at 5:00 pm at the Norwalk City Concert Hall Veterans Hall of Honor at 125 East Avenue, Norwalk.
The parade will be on Memorial Day, May 30, and starts at 10:00 am.
