What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Norwalk theater to present folk music legend

Very soon, folk music lovers in the area will get a rare opportunity to enjoy an evening with one of the biggest names in the genre.

The famed country and folk artist Gordon Lightfoot has written songs and performed since 1958 and is often associated with the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. Anyone interested in attending this concert needs to get tickets soon, as organizers warn that they are selling fast.

Lightfoot’s songs, marked by his baritone voice and 12-string guitar, have been performed by such artists as Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, the Grateful Dead, the Kingston Trio, Judy Collins, and Peter Paul and Mary. He has over 20 albums to his credit, with international music chart top 10 golden oldie songs such as ‘Rainy Day People’, ‘If You Could Read My Mind’, and ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’.

With a tour of his native Canada scheduled for this fall, Lightfoot has even been honored by having his picture appear on a Canadian postage stamp. Attendees may wish to follow suit and take pictures of their own during the performance, perhaps for later use in poster printing projects.

The concert will be held at Fairfield Theatre’s Norwalk Concert Hall on July 18, at 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased from the theater’s website.
