Mansion opens doors for December celebration

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will once again be offering a Holiday Open House this month. This family friendly event will offer a variety of activities for people of all ages, in a festive atmosphere.

This year, the Open House will feature a visit from Santa Claus and his reindeer. They will spend an hour in the music room with the children who come to visit. Also, the New Cannan Dance Academy will be offering a performance with students showing off their newly acquired dancing skills.

There will also be an event called ‘The Doll and Teddy Bear Victorian Tea’ that will focus on etiquette, dolls and fun. The day will end with a Bingo tournament and the doling out of prizes for the winners. Those that attend will find the mansion decorated in historical fashion with several ornamental trees on display. A tour will also be offered, where toys, trains, and dolls will be on display. There will also be refreshments. Some guests may want to bring cameras for capturing special moments, perhaps for later use in making holiday cards.

The Open House will take place Sunday, December 13 from noon until 4:00 pm at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, Mathews Park, 295 West Avenue, Norwalk. General admission tickets will cost $5, with an additional fee of $10 for the tea. Reservations for the tea must be made in advance.
