Long-running Oyster Festival returns
The 46th Annual Norwalk Oyster Festival will be coming to Norwalk for three days in early September.
Funky Dawgs Brass Band and Southside Johnny & The Ashbury Jukes will take to the stage on the Friday night. JD Leonard and Mike DelGuidice will be the headliners for the Saturday evening, and BADBOY, Drew Angus, and Let's Sing Taylor (a Taylor Swift cover band) will entertain the crowd on the Sunday afternoon.
At the New England Village, over 100 fine arts and crafters will be selling everything from pottery, jewelry, and photography to sculptures, artwork, and furniture. Purchasers of items like these often find colorful business cards in with their newfound treasures.
Along with free performances, kids can enjoy carnival rides, balloons, and games, and get their faces painted. Foodies may head over to the International Food Court for foreign cuisine and fair-type items such as funnel cakes. Local nonprofits will be selling traditional New England food items such as fresh oysters and New England lobster dinners to raise funds for their causes. Proceeds from the event will go to Seaport Association's educational programs.
Tickets will be $15 for adults, $8 for kids between the ages of 5 and 12, and $10 for seniors. All children will get free admission on the Sunday.
The Norwalk Oyster Festival will run Friday, September 6th from 6:00 pm to 11:00 am; Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm; and Sunday, September 8th from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at Veteran's Memorial Park, 42 Seaview Avenue.
