Local runners can still sign up for summer series
There is still time for runners to get involved in the last four in-person races in the Lightfoot Norwalk Summer Series, a five-race series where each race gets progressively longer.
The first race was a three-mile run on July 4. The second one will be a 5-mile run beginning at Cranbury Elementary School on Knowalot Lane this Sunday, July 18.
The third race will be five miles on Sunday, August 1 beginning at Brien McMahon High School on Highland Avenue. Calf Pasture Beach will be the starting point of the nine-mile fourth race in the series on August 15.
The final race in the in-person series will be Sunday, August 29. This will be an 11-mile run beginning at Silvermine School on Perry Avenue.
All in-person races start at 8:00 am and cost $15 for preregistration any time until the race day, or $20 on race day itself. Virtual races will also be available and are free to take part in.
Results can be uploaded online on apps such as Race Joy and Strava, and on the Lightfoot Norwalk Summer Series RunSignup website. All in-person and virtual race results will be posted on the event’s website.
Members of groups entering in-person races often like to get matching T-shirts printed with the group’s graphic or logo design.
