Local farm to dance into the weekend
Wakeman Town Farm will be hosting a barn dance in a few days. The event is being held to celebrate the coming of spring.
Bill Fischer will be the caller for the evening and will be arranging many traditional dances. Each dance will have instructions beforehand, so no experience or partner is necessary.
The Fiddleheads will be providing music, and refreshments will be served. Proceeds will go to the Wakeman Town Farm kitchen classroom expansion.
This will be a family affair and some families here in Norwalk may want to dress in hoedown attire and take pictures during the dance. These colorful photos may make interesting subjects for future poster printing or personalized stationery.
Although advanced registration is not necessary, those interested may want to RSVP. Tickets will be $15 per adult and $5 per student and sold at the door.
Although the Wakeman Town Farm is located at 134 Cross Highway in Westport, the dance will be at the Westport Women’s Club, 44 Imperial Avenue, Westport. This is due to the construction going on at the farm. The dance will be this Friday, March 24, beginning at 7:30 pm and end sometime around 9:30 pm.
May is the target month for the farm to reopen for its outdoor gardening workshops, and summer camps will be in full swing by July.
